Innovation is the cornerstone of Valeo's strategy. Our commitment to enabling a better automotive world has driven our daily efforts to make the car more environmentally acceptable. We devote more than 6% of our sales to research and development, chiefly in the areas of safety, energy efficiency and protection of the environment. From Valeo’s viewpoint, the freedom to drive cannot be dissociated from the protection of people and their environment.

This responsible approach is shared by the whole automotive industry. For a long time now automakers and automotive suppliers have invested massively to develop cleaner, safer cars that rely less and less on non renewable resources. These investments have already resulted in a number of important advances. We know that older models (20% of the total number of cars on the road) are responsible for 80% of all automobile-generated pollution. Replacing old vehicles alone would already considerably reduce the impact of vehicles on the environment.

Understanding the obstacles that prevent the implementation of new technologies is essential in order to overcome them and promote the use of more environmentally friendly vehicles. This is why for a long time now Valeo has developed its activities in constant collaboration and communication with all concerned.

Our studies on driving behaviors help us deliver solutions that closely suit drivers' habits, particularly in urban areas. At the same time, a growing commitment towards environmental protection is drastically transforming consumer patterns.

An efficient innovation policy can only be pursued with the support and encouragement of all the players involved, from motorists to local authorities and environmental protection agencies, etc.

In its capacity as the world's leading independent automotive systems supplier, a responsible industrialist attuned to the concerns of motorists and users, and partner to all the major automakers, Valeo is launching the Valeo Forum as a concrete step to enable a better automotive world. In direct line with our commitments, we want to contribute to a broad and open-minded debate, open to the needs and expectations of all.

The Valeo Forum

The Valeo Forum is an international event aimed at gaining a better understanding of the role of the automobile in society.

Its mission is to foster the sharing of experience and to actively contribute to the proposal and development of new automotive solutions. The Valeo Forum acts as a meeting point for the industrial, scientific and political worlds with the community at large. Valeo invites experts from these different fields to come up with concrete solutions to automotive issues so as to encourage implementation of common measures.

This mission is rooted in three founding values:
Open-mindedness, as understanding the expectations of users and non-users alike is vital in order to effectively contribute to the responsible evolution of automobiles. A multi-disciplinary approach, to respond to the diversity of expectations and situations raised by the complexity of automotive issues. Action, because both Valeo’s commitment and the Valeo Forum’s main objective is to make a concrete contribution to enabling a better automobile world.
